12 Days of Christmas Tops, day 10: Not every party calls for sequins and glitter so today’s top is perfect for a casual get together or afternoon decorating the tree with your family. I love this Wildfox Rockin Around tee from Bloomingdales. Adorable, comfy, and super festive.

Temps finally rose for us in the New England area the past few days, and don’t get me wrong – I love a good 40-degree day when you can go out in a sweater and a vest instead of every layer you own PLUS a down winter coat just to stay warm. But – you better still be wearing your boots or galoshes because the 3 feet of snow outside is melllllting. Like everyone else, I am jumping on the “I can’t wait for spring” bandwagon and pulling together a bunch of items that I am desperate to wear now but will have to wait until spring, but I am focusing on footwear. Footwear is the final piece to the thank-God-it’s-finally-spring puzzle because you have wait a lonnnng time to wear them without fear of ruining them in snow and endless puddles. Here’s a little round-up of some spring shoes I am coveting right now…
1. Love these Nautical Ballerina flats from Zara. 2. I am obsessed with the shape of d’orsay flats and can’t wait to get a pair – I love these Ted Baker London Cadeen Flats, the pop of peach is lovely. 3. These Soludos Lace Up Espadrille Flats are adorable and look SO comfy. 4. I had to include a yellow shoe because I always think yellow when I think spring. Aren’t these Tippy Pumps from Anthropologie perfect? 5. A bright-patterned ballet flat is perfect for spring, I love these DV8 by Dolce Vita Tasmin Flats and they’re under $40! 6. And these Lucky Brand Two Piece Flats, these just scream spring! 7. Chuck Taylor Metallic in Rose Gold – the perfect feminine sneaker for spring. 8. I love these pink J.Crew Collection Blakely summer stripe pumps, just the perfect bright color.
What shoes are you looking forward to wearing when it gets warmer AND drier?
I mentioned last week that I like the spring trend of floral patterns but to be careful because all those flowers could easily become too much. Don’t you agree? You should also be mindful of what wardrobe piece you are buying in a floral pattern. You want to look for modern cuts when you’re shopping for floral because you could easily look matronly. For example: a floral skinny leg pant? Great. A floral collared button down shirt? Matronly.
I have put together a great outfit below for an example of how to best wear the floral trend – even with more than one floral piece:
1. Threadbloom blouse from Anthropologie worn tucked in; 2. Marc by Marc Jacobs bright orange cardigan from Bloomingdales; 3. Colorful beaded tea necklace (only $38! btw) from Swell Caroline; 4. Bright hair ties for your ponytail from Nordstrom; 5. Floral print trousers by Zara, these are a great outfit base because although they’re floral, they are almost considered neutral with the simple 2-color pattern; 6. Willow Road Gia handbag from Kate Spade; and 7. J. Crew Green etta pumps.
What a week – you can definitely tell Spring is in the air…that foot of snow we got last Friday is just about gone! This weekend we’re excited to hit the slopes for probably one last time this season and then we’re going to a little birthday party for my niece (turning 6!!) and my nephew (already 3!!). Time flies, huh?
Here is a photo recap of our week:
Two words: PLAY KITCHEN!
We got the above mentioned play kitchen at Ikea and kind of had a blast while we were there. Z tried out every table and chair in the kid section, look how serious she took it! I also thought this rug would be fab if I had a home in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or that neck of the woods.
I went to a fun afternoon tea/fashion show at Bloomingdale’s with my friend Amelia. The tea part was great, the fashion show could’ve used a little more fashion (only 15 looks!). I wore my favorite J.Crew bow pants.
We went out for sushi! This photo is deceivingly calm…the restaurant where we ate didn’t have high chairs so while we were chop sticking and dunking into soy sauce, our munchkin was ripping apart the table. It was what they call “a disaster.” At one point my husband grabbed bungee cords from the car to bungee her to a seat…yeah, that didn’t work either.
