I can’t believe in less than 3 weeks my little Z will start going to Nursery School. SCHOOL. Anything with that word in it sounds so grown-up! She is more than excited and I often hear her trying to tell whoever will listen “I go school!” She asks me to read “The Night Before Preschool” multiple times a day. And she is officially obsessed with her teeny tiny backpack. I decided to order a Swankaroo backpack since they are made for kids under 5 years old – she’s so small and anything we found in stores just made it look like she’d tip over. Anyway, the big first day is all the talk around here so I thought I’d pull together and share with you what she’ll be wearing for her first day of nursery school.
I started this post about Z’s springiest outfit this past weekend when I knew for sure it was safe to declare “spring has officially arrived and stayed!” Well, yesterday was 45 degrees, today is not much better, boo. It’s still time to talk about springtime outfits on blogs though because although we’re all still wearing coats and socks and even hats sometimes here in the Northeast, no one wants to talk about that anymore – so springtime it is! Here is my Z’s most adorable springtime outfit I thought I’d share with you. The Aztec print pants are just to die for! Not on a day we go to the playground, that’s for sure – but everyone needs a little springtime outfit full of color, right? And hopefully one day soon (in June?) we can officially declare spring is here to stay.
Easter is always a great time to break out your springiest clothes and get dolled up for your days’ festivities whether there is church involved, maybe an egg hunt, hopefully some ham…this year we have 3 egg hunts on the horizon for Easter Sunday and since my Z has been obsessed with all the plastic “egg-ies” I’ve brought up from storage in the basement, I think she will really enjoy them all!
Back to the springtime outfit though. Last year, I must admit, my Z had the most perfect Easter Sunday outfit, do you remember? This year, since she is in LOVE with her spring jacket, I decided to build her outfit around that – living in New England you never know what you’ll get for Easter weather but I assume a jacket will be necessary. We actually found this dress at GAP Outlet months ago on the same trip as her brown boots and I’ve managed to keep it unworn since then so it can be nice and stain free for Easter. We’ll pair the dress with some white tights and her dressiest shoes. Oh, and a pair of bunny ear hair clips from the Target dollar section – I couldn’t resist!

Yesterday I shared a round-up of fun, cute casual sneakers with you…for adults. Today, I share with you my Z’s casual sneakers, which are my favorite of all. I found these sneakers during the summer Zara sale and bought them in a bigger size for her to wear later. Well – it’s later and they fit and they are just the cutest and coolest sneakers. I love that they’re slightly grown-up looking (not your usual kid-look, ya know?) but they are really good sneakers on her feet for all the running, hopping, jumping she does.
By March I am always DONE with wearing a heavy winter coat, aren’t you? It’s like…it’s been long enough, winter – I’m ready for something lighter and more colorful! So it comes as no surprise that it seems as though my Z is the same way. In the fall we did a little shopping at our favorite local second hand store (Growing Up in Belmont, MA) where we found her winter boots, a few other summer items, and this amazing spring jacket. In ebay terms this jacket was NWT (new with tags) and from the Missoni for Target line – score! As soon as my Z saw it in our coat closet a couple weeks ago she has demanded to wear it every day – no more winter coat!

I am jealous of my toddler’s new jeans.
Ok, let me take a step back. I remember when my niece was very little she always had the best jeans. Turns out my sister always got her denim at Lucky – it’s cute, it wears well, and lasts through baby and toddler crazy. This Christmas, my sister gave my Z a cute pair of Lucky jeans – which was also around the time I decided to make the switch from leggings to denim for my Z as she was plowing through pairs of leggings during playtime – jeans are just more durable.
Anyway, now back to my original statement! We popped into the Lucky Brand store at the mall the other day and they were having an unbelievable sale where a lot of kids items were on sale for $6.97!! We got a few items for next year and the adorable jeans below. They’re a little big on her so they’ll last a while – we’ll certainly get our $7 worth! And aren’t they cute? They’re skinny jeans with adorably placed distressed spots. I paired these new jeans with a little blazer hand-me-down from the same cousin, her fave boots, and of course…a hair bow.
My little Z is really into accessories right now, no shocker there. She’s always had a thing for shoes, but recently, we cannot leave the house without a bow in her hair – I agree with her, you always need a little something to accessorize your outfit, right? Well, let me tell you about bows on a toddler. We have bows given to us by cousins, bows I’ve made myself, bows we’ve found on etsy that are so cute and overpriced…and they all get lost. Always. In fact, I drew the line this past Friday after she lost one of the bows I made myself and declared we are never paying more than a dollar or spending more than one minute making a hair bow ever again. Later that day we made a quick trip to the mall to run an errand and I was so delighted to find the answer to our bow issues. Good ‘ol Forever 21 has a toddler bow department! Well, maybe these bows aren’t necessarily made for toddlers, but they fit the description of any bows now entering our home – they are cool, cute, tiny, and just $1.80/pair (that’s less than $1/each people)! We bought a few…
I threw in that little headband for $2.80 for good measure.
And she has been in bow heaven ever since (she wore a bow and the bow headband yesterday) – and by the way, we haven’t lost one yet, how ironic!
