Holiday Cards

We got my sister’s Christmas card last week and I thought it was so cute…posed, perfect kiddo photos on the front and fun photo shoot outttakes on the back, showing their true personalities.  I wanted to copy the idea, but since I make my own cards with stamps and a photo, I wondered how?

Well, easy.  I found a great pic of our girl smiling away, made a word doc with 30 of them on it, and printed the page on full sheet label paper.  Then, just cut out the images, peeled, and stuck on the back of the homemade holiday card.

What to Wear – Christmas Morning

I was really inspired by these adorable gold polka dot pajamas from Target to create a round up of what to wear Christmas morning. Here’s what I’d like to be wearing (and drinking from!):

1. Polka Dot Pajamas from Target, 2. Santa hat, 3.Marc by Marc Jacobs velvet mouse slippers, 4. Christmas by Michael Buble playing as we open gifts, 5. Starbucks coffee mug, and 6. a warm throw from West Elm, $19 on sale (we have the orange one on our couch).

Christmas Decor, part 2: Teeny Tiny Tree

Here’s my second new Christmas decoration, this time it’s a crafty one!

I always seem to focus on our kitchen table centerpiece as something I want to change up every year for Christmas.  Maybe because we never eat at the table (we have an island we sit at for meals) so the centerpiece is always there.  Or maybe because it’s so easily edited with a different candle or a poinsettia.

Well this year, I found this sweet little tree at West Elm and based the table decor around it.

I  started by making a garland for the tree using mini mardi gras beads in Christmas colors that I found Jo-Ann Fabrics for $1.  I just cut the red beads in half and trimmed the tree.

Then I cut each bead apart from the silver and green necklaces.

Then I put the silver and green beads in the bottom of one of those glass holders for a pillar candle.

Finally, I sat the tree on top of the beads, put it on a silver tray I already had with a poinsettia on either side.

Monday Outfit

It’s going to be warm but rainy here today and I have to bring our sweet baby girl to the doctor for some booster shots this afternoon.  =(  I’ll be wearing my favorite indigo jeans, basic black top, J. Crew herringbone vest, ornate necklace, reddish/pink nails, and Zara flats, similar to the ones below.  Have a great week!

Couple Things…

Almost the weekend…what are you up to?  We had lots of plans last weekend but our little one wasn’t feeling so hot Saturday and then refused to nap on Sunday so our plans got a little destroyed, oh well – that’s is life with a toddler!  This weekend we’re going to check out this party at the ICA, get our Christmas tree, and then have some friends over for brunch on Sunday…with bloody mary’s!

I’ll be finishing these this weekend too – watch your mailbox!

Have a great weekend, here are some fun links…

We’re making these for brunch, don’t they look amazing?

These gift wrapping ideas are so cute…

I love to see what people wear to work, don’t you?

Um, this is the fanciest gift card…ever.

A Christmas tree that holds its needles from Thanksgiving through Christmas?!  Sign me up.

Work from Home Christmas Vibe

A great part about working from home is you can blast whatever music you want and, since it’s the holiday season, I’ve been jammin’ to tons of Christmas music lately.  Well, my dad tweeted this tune earlier today and I had my USB Christmas Tree plugged into my laptop and it was so Christmas-y as I listened that I thought I would share.  Enjoy (and don’t forget to turn your speakers up!):

What to Wear – Ski Weekend

I’m excited to hit the slopes over New Year’s this year so I thought I’d put together a little of what I’ll be wearing in the cold weather up North.  Isn’t that kate spade hat the cutest?

1. North Face jacket, 2. Kate Spade 3D ski hat, 3. Ski Patrol tee from A&F, 4. Marc Jacobs crossbody bag, 5. Jackalope Sweater from Madewell, 6. Urban Outfitters twig jeans, 7. Super warm and waterproof Sorel boots, and 8. Smart Wool socks.

Christmas Decor, part 1: Mistletoe

So, as everyone does, we pretty much decorate our home with the same Christmas decorations year after year. This year, I have a couple new items here and there and a few DIY projects up my sleeve to differentiate a bit. And I plan on telling you about them all – stay tuned for more throughout the month, here is my first.

mistletoe2

We’ve never hung mistletoe in our home, so I decided it was time!  Even though I certainly don’t need an excuse to give my cute husband or sweet baby a smooch, I love the tradition of it.

Wikipedia claims: “According to ancient Christmas custom, a man and a woman who meet under a hanging of mistletoe were obliged to kiss. The custom may be of Scandinavian origin.”

Anyway, I found this felt mistletoe at West Elm (on sale), added a red bow, and hung it in our dining area looking into the kitchen.

Now the smooches are flying in our house!!

It’s going to be really warm today so I’m going for a non-sweater outfit today as we do a couple Christmas errands this afternoon.  I’m wearing these great twig jeans from Urban Outfitters with a green and polka dot top chiffon top with layered necklaces, navy nails and my brown knee boots, similar to the ones below.  Have a great week!

Couple Things…

We have a weekend of fun planned around here.  I’m excited to see Argo this weekend, we’re hitting up the MFA for their Bank of America Museums on Us complimentary entry so we can see the Mario Testino exhibit (we only go on these free weekends because you never know how long the munchkin will last at a museum…), and we won entry to the Christmas at Fenway event this weekend – can’t wait, Santa will be there!

Why is this Target/Neiman Marcus line so expensive?!

We have the McRib, they have Mac n Cheese and Shrimp Burger!
