I had an event to go to for work Monday night and I didn’t want to wear a tired old suit so instead, I jazzed up a cute black jumper. It was still conservative enough for the type of event I was attending, but it allowed me to add some flare and personality. Here is what I have put together for what to wear to a business event.
1.J.Crew Factory polka dot blouse; 2. Black jumper dress, similar at Bluefly; 3. Nice bright jacket from J. Crew; 4. DKNY opaque black tights; 5.Essie’s she’s pampered; 6. Interesting heels from Anthropologie; 7. A cute sticky notes and fun pen from Paper Source for note taking; 8. kate spade handbag, large enough for all your stuff!
Since Easter and Passover are early this year (end of March) I feel like things are getting “spring-y” earlier than normal. And by “getting spring-y” I mean the stores already have their spring decor, clothes, etc… out for sale already. I can’t help but already be getting in a spring-y mood – here are some of my favorites for the upcoming season!
|J.Crew Collection Gilded Brocade Bomber Jacket – I LOVE this jacket for spring. It’s sold out, but I wonder if it will come back…
|babyGAP Knit-waist Skinny Dot Jeans in yellow (I already bought these for Z).
|Ted Baker London metallic oxfords from Nordstrom. Metallic oxfords are definitely on “my list” for spring.

I have been obsessed with J.Crew’s sequin birds top since it came out. Sadly, it’s sold out online, but I found it on clearance (sale on sale) at one of their stores recently. I thought I’d put together an outfit based on this interesting tee.
1. J. Crew sequin birds top; 2. Madewell denim jacket; 3. AG skinny jeans in army green; 4. Red plaid scarf from Forever 21; 5. Pheasant teacup bangle from anthropologie to keep with the bird theme; 6. Red agate strand bracelet from Macy’s; 7. Hinge Fraser Oxfords; and 8. Cross-body bag from Kate Spade Saturday (the cross-body strap doubles as a belt!).
I wanted to share some Valentine’s Day highlights from our house…
We started the day with some heart shaped toast
and red roses!
For dinner I used this recipe for beet and goat cheese ravioli…
they were really delicious even though it was quite the “labor of love” to make these because I made them heart shaped, of course.
At least I had some help!
The day ended with white chocolate mousse topped with raspberries made by my husband.
I hope your Valentine’s Day was full of hearts and sweets as ours was! Have a great weekend – here are some fun links from the web:
Here’s a good source of NYFW news and reviews.
And see specific designers’ shows here.
I of course loved the J.Crew presentation!
Sesame Street Upside Downton Abbey – the Carson Muppet is great.
I love these embroidered initial necklaces I found on etsy…
I am just seeing the new Nanette Lepore juniors line at JC Penney – l’amour, it’s cute and SO affordable.
I found this great skirt on clearance at Banana Republic recently – cotton, navy with cream stripes – and I had to have it. I thought it would be great for our trip to Puerto Rico, and it was! But then when we got home from vacation and I hadn’t totally unpacked I put it on with a sweater, tights, and boots and realized I found the perfect across-all-seasons skirt. I thought I’d share my outfit ideas with you.
Wear in warm weather….
