Making Black Colorful

You don’t often find children reaching for the color black but it can be a great starting point for a colorful, fun look. I recently styled 2 black-based looks for Instagram pics for Fritz & Gigi.

The first, this grey-scale dress from Petit Indi with ruffle front, and soft denim fabric is made colorful with the most fun hot pink bejeweled tights from Konges Slojd. Pair this look with a cute pair of sneakers for the sweetest look in girls size 2-6.

The second look is head-to-toe Rylee & Cru for older girls, size 7-14. The skirt is so cute with the patch pocket front paired with a simple stretchy long sleeve, and brightened up with an oatmeal cardigan. Brighten this up with a pair of tube socks and colorful Sambas and it’s the perfect early fall look!

Shop In-Person

I am just back from the most fun in-person try on at Fritz & Gigi with a new customer and her two tween daughters. I normally work remotely with clients and communicate via email or text so this was a fun treat! I set up dressing rooms for each of the girls and prepped the items they chose from what I presented. Then they had fun trying everything on, picking out a few additional pieces to try on, and eventually deciding what to actually buy. The girls had SO MUCH fun modeling their looks and they were so complimentary to each other, it was honestly the best morning. Email me to book your Fall appointment and if you’re local, let’s make it an in-person try on!

New for Fall

In the Northeast, there is always a morning in early August when there is a slight chill in the air and you know Fall is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to start thinking about your back to school shopping, a first day of school new look, and outfits for those Fall family photo shoots on the calendar. I am now accepting appointments for Fall looks! No matter what your needs are (every day outfits for school, first day of school, occasion wear), what your style is, and what your budget is – I am here to help! Email me at jess@styledbyjess.com to get started.

Eye Catching Entry

I always try and create a dynamic display at the front of Fritz & Gigi when I’m merchandising. Something random, something colorful, something to catch the eye of shoppers as soon as they walk in the door!

For this particular set-up I wanted to display the new rubber ducky bathrobes and coordinating little slippers. To round out the set-up I places a yellow basket and 2 little “Eggetha Egg and Lance Soldier” Jellycats to show it’s the perfect thing to wear to breakfast.

Random, colorful, fun!

Boys Spring/Summer

People often complain about boys clothes – they’re boring, they’re not as cute, everything is blue! I beg to differ… We recently took a family trip to Italy and my son wore a ton of our new Spring/Summer pieces from Fritz & Gigi. Sure, a lot of the pieces here are blue but that’s his favorite color! We have so much fun, bright, colorful pieces for boys. And if you need help choosing looks, I can help!

Matching

Matching boy and girl pieces are hard to find! Pink Chicken does a great job creating matching prints for boys and girls. I used to dress my kiddos in this brand when they were younger and it’s just so darn cute. This golf print was just released and while I was merchandising at Fritz & Gigi today I couldn’t help but put 2 little mannequins together to showcase the matching sibling look. Fore!

A Wall of Suits

Every February in retail, we start getting deliveries of all the bright, fun colorful spring/summer pieces! By this time (mid-March) stores are chock-full of fresh, new inventory. So much so, it’s not only hard to fit it all but challenging to merchandise it to make it really showcase well.

I was merchandising at Fritz & Gigi last week and we really wanted to get all the new bathing suits out in the second floor tween/teen space in preparation for Spring Break. I decided to get creative with fitting the two pieces on the wall and displaying the one pieces on a cross bar with a little shelf above, displaying a cover-up outfit and some hats. Of course the mannequin showcasing a fun two-piece and sarong completed the Bathing Suit corner.

It’s in the Details

When I am merchandising at the store, it’s all about the little details – showcasing how each piece can be styled and accessorized.

This gorgeous blue stripe dress from emile et ida has the loveliest blue floral embroidery. It is a sweet, lightweight cotton dress perfect for every day. I wanted to also showcase the dress as an option for Easter so I styled our mannequin with a dressy blue satin headband and the most adorable lamb cross-body purse perfect on Easter Sunday stuffed with chocolate eggs and jelly beans.
