I love Boston in the fall – crisp air, leaves on the street, sweaters, scarves, corduroys – I love it all! So, when it was slightly sort of fall-like Friday afternoon and my Z and I found ourselves with no plans, we hopped in the car and drove to the city for a girls evening out. We parked on Newbury and walked to the Public Garden as my Z needed a little running around time and I knew just the spot to go…
Mrs. Mallard and her 8 ducklings from Make Way for Ducklings – don’t you just love these brass mallards in the middle of the park?
She did, of course. Although she’s not too familiar with the book (yet) so she thought they were bouncy toys and bounced on each duckling, probably thinking they were all broken.
Some nice couple even snapped a shot of us, too bad I’m in a weird squat-stance… After our jaunt to the park we were on a mission. If you follow me on Instagram, you know my Z grew a ton one night and outgrew all of her shoes – literally woke up, shoes that fit the day before didn’t fit anymore – whoa growth spurt. Anyway, so we popped into Zara to grab her some cool kicks but they really had zero selection so she picked out a couple long sleeve tops instead.
All of this park-running, picture-posing, duck-hopping, and shoe-shopping got us hungry for dinner! Have you tried the new Sweetgreen on Boylston Street yet? I’ve been dying to go so we decided tonight was the night – frankly, my husband wouldn’t go for a place like this where salad is the only thing on the menu (for the most part) so we just went without him! Look at all that veg….
I got the Chic P salad and a lemonade and Z got the Earth Bowl – and LOVED it. I’ve been trying to get her to eat tomatoes forever and it took this earth bowl where they were covered in quinoa for her to try and like. Go figure.
All in all a fine girls evening out in my book. =)
So cute! I love the ducklings in the Public Gardens!
